How we source it
A refractory quotation starts with the lining drawing and the duty — peak temperature, atmosphere, slag chemistry, thermal cycling and abrasion. We match the grade to that duty and to the installation method your contractor will actually use, then supply the mortar, anchors and expansion allowance alongside the brick or castable so the lining is complete on arrival rather than short one component.
Refractories — frequently asked
- Which refractory grade suits my furnace?
- It depends on peak temperature, atmosphere, slag or flux chemistry and how often the unit cycles. Send the lining drawing and operating data and we recommend a grade with the physical property data sheet, rather than quoting the cheapest brick that meets the temperature rating alone.
- Do you supply castables and the anchors together?
- Yes — castable, needle or fibre reinforcement, anchors, mortar and expansion material are quoted as one package so nothing on the installation critical path is missing.
- How long can castables be stored before use?
- Most cement-bonded castables carry a six-month shelf life from manufacture in sealed bags kept dry and off the floor. We ship against your installation window and state the manufacturing date on the packing list.
